INSIDE THE BOOK

About this book

As computing shifts toward parallel architectures and GPU acceleration, traditional approaches to data structures and algorithms must evolve. This book dives into the challenges and opportunities of modern computing, introducing readers to WebGPU and WGSL as tools for high-performance rendering and computation. Learn how to adapt classic structures like trees, graphs, and queues for parallel execution, and explore how algorithms behave in massively concurrent environments. Ideal for developers, researchers, and students aiming to stay ahead in the computing landscape.

Outstanding introduction

Better than I expected. Rare to find a technical book this well judged.

A colleague recommended this and I can see why. It does something that few technical books manage: it respects the reader's time. A couple of chapters felt like they could have been merged, but that is a minor complaint. The code samples assume a particular environment, which took a bit of fiddling to get running properly. The book rewards careful reading. Skimming it would be a mistake. This is the book I wish had existed when I started working with algorithms.

Recommended, with a caveat

Strong content, uneven pacing. I would still recommend it.

I was looking for something that would bridge the gap between tutorials and proper reference material, and this does that well. The index and cross-references are surprisingly good, which matters for a book I will come back to. The author avoids over-explaining, which keeps the pace up but means you need to pay attention. Good value for the price and worth the time it takes to work through properly.
